The popular ABC police drama The F.B.I. originally ran from September 1965 through September 1974; it starred Efrem Zimbalist, Jr. as Inspector Lewis Erskine, a cool and methodical "G Man" who spent episodes tracking down prey, in cases reportedly adapted from actual Federal Bureau of Investigation case files.
